BetMGM launched in Alberta in July 2026 and, in its third-quarter business update, reported that per-player metrics are trending above those from its earlier Ontario launch. The disclosure was part of a broader Q3 report in which the operator posted $710 million in net revenue, up 7% year over year. The company has not provided separate financial figures for Alberta.

Alberta launch and early performance

According to BetMGM’s Q3 2026 business update, the Alberta debut in July was a "successful multi-product launch" with per-player metrics trending above the Ontario launch. The company made the comparison in its operational highlights without publishing underlying Alberta data. AffPapa noted that BetMGM did not disclose separate figures for the Canadian province. The characterization is the company’s own internal comparison and has not been independently confirmed. BetMGM did not specify which per-player metrics it was comparing, such as handle per active, net revenue per active or monthly actives.

Q3 financial snapshot

BetMGM reported total net revenue of $710 million for Q3, up 7% year over year. iGaming net revenue rose 6% to $483 million, while online sports net revenue increased 7% to $216 million. Sports betting handle grew 3% to $3.24 billion, and adjusted EBITDA more than doubled to $86 million, a 112% increase. Average monthly actives declined 3% to 878,000 from 902,000 a year earlier, according to Covers. Online sports gross revenue hold was 10.7%, up from 10.1%, and net revenue hold rose from 6.4% to 6.7%.

Product and engagement drivers

The company attributed growth partly to World Cup engagement and enhancements ahead of football season. BetMGM said its sportsbook had improvements to speed, stability and responsiveness. Online sports handle per active rose 13% year over year, and net revenue per active rose 18%. In iGaming, net revenue per active increased 4% and average monthly actives for iGaming rose 2%. New Game of Thrones titles launched across the U.S., Ontario and Alberta were the most successful game franchise launch in BetMGM’s history, according to the company. A Borgata brand refresh helped drive a 28% increase in average daily actives compared with prior levels. BetMGM also reported a 14% gross gaming revenue market share across active markets, including 20% in iGaming and 8% in online sports.

Guidance reiterated

BetMGM maintained its fiscal-year 2026 guidance and said it remains on track to deliver toward the lower end of net revenue of $2.9 billion to $3.1 billion and adjusted EBITDA of $300 million to $350 million. For the first nine months of 2026, the company reported net revenue of $2.12 billion, up 5% year over year. CEO Adam Greenblatt said the company is generating positive cash flow and adjusted EBITDA. "BetMGM delivered a strong Q3 as we continue to execute with discipline and generate profitable growth," he said.

Limited Alberta disclosure

BetMGM has not released Alberta-specific revenue, handle, active-player counts or profitability. Because the Alberta launch occurred in July, the Q3 report covers only the first weeks of operation. It is not yet known how Alberta will contribute to full-year revenue or whether per-player metrics will remain above the Ontario comparison over a longer period. The company’s statement about trending above Ontario is a forward-looking internal benchmark, not a separate financial disclosure.
